As of Monday, April 27 the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Costa Rica is 697 cases, that includes 334 women and 363 men, out of which 628 are Costa Rican and 69 are foreigners.
8,305 people have been discarded. The number of deaths in the country remains at 6. 16 people remain hospitalized 8 of them in intensive care with ages ranging between 45 and 87 years.
The government also announced the new guidelines that will be in place as of May 1st and through May 11th, the new sanitary measures are gradual, with the reactivation of some activities under certain restrictions.
Businesses that can reopen during weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:
Theaters and Movie Theaters with measures of separation between each person of at least 2 meters between seats. (National Theater and Melico Salazar Theater to remain closed)
Gyms, swimming schools and sporting facilities for the training of non-contact sports to a 25% of its maximum capacity and a special schedule for clients with risk factors.
Businesses that can now operate during weekends from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:
Beauty salons and barber shops can operate to a maximum 50% of their capacity and by previous appointment.
Bicycle repair shops and bicycle rentals (with all necessary disinfection measures)
Commerce dedicated to selling automobile and motorcycle parts and accessories.
Parking lots.
Vehicular transit restrictions remain the same as the past two weeks.
Daytime restrictions during the weekdays will be in place from 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. and will be applied by license plate numbers following the usual order of regular vehicular restrictions but applicable countrywide, meaning:
Monday: Cars with plate number ending on 1 & 2 (are restricted)
Tuesday: Cars with plate number ending on 3 & 4 (are restricted)
Wednesday: Cars with plate number ending on 5 & 6 (are restricted)
Thursday: Cars with plate number ending on 7 & 8 (are restricted)
Friday: Cars with plate number ending on 9 & 0 (are restricted)
Weekends will see continue to see full restrictions except for going to supermarkets, pharmacies, and health centers, now also, beauty salons and barber shops and again will be limited by license plate numbers, in this case, plates ending on an even number (0,2,4,6,8) are restricted on Saturday while cars with plates ending on odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9) are restricted for transit on Sunday.
The government is also initiating a coordinated process to generate specific protocols with preventive and mitigation measures that allow the reactivation and continuation of work centers, activities and services. All spaces should be working to a maximum 50% of their capacity and guarantee a distance of at least 2 meters between each person. Work stations should not be shared, food utensils and other objects should not be shared. Services that can be offered by appointment should be handled by appointment only. Schedules and shifts should be established in offices and work places to comply with the measures of having 50% of their capacity at all times.
