The Dominican Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), led by Minister David Collado, concluded its participation in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025 with major achievements in expanding air connectivity between the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic. The delegation succeeded in securing direct flights from four additional UK cities, reinforcing the country’s position as a leading Caribbean destination.
The initiative aims to boost seat capacity from the UK — a market that currently contributes 22% of all visitors to the Dominican Republic. As a result of negotiations held at the fair, the number of scheduled airline seats for the first seven months of 2026 is projected to exceed 108,000, according to preliminary data from global distribution systems (GDS).
TUI Airways will play a central role in this expansion, announcing a new seasonal route from Belfast to Punta Cana starting in June 2026. The airline already operates the majority of holiday charter flights between the UK and Dominican destinations and will now connect London (Gatwick), Manchester, Birmingham, and Belfast with Punta Cana and La Romana.
Meanwhile, British Airways will continue strengthening its scheduled services from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports to Punta Cana International Airport, maintaining its commitment to the Dominican market.
