American Airlines is increasing its service from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to six Latin American and Caribbean cities this winter, the company announced Thursday. On Nov. 5, American will introduce twice-daily flights to Oaxaca, Mexico, from DFW.
The Fort Worth-based carrier also will run daily flights from DFW to Grand Cayman, Nassau and Mexican cities Zihuatanejo and Huatulco, starting Dec. 5. Twice-weekly flights to Comayagua, Honduras, also start that day.
“We are excited to continue growing our network to the region with more flights this winter to the Caribbean and Latin America than any other U.S. carrier ever,” Brian Znotins, American Airlines senior vice president of network and schedule planning, said in a news release. American is adding new nonstop flights from cities across the U.S. to St. Vincent and the Grenadines; La Romana, Dominican Republic; Bridgetown, Barbados; St Lucia; St. Maarten; and Liberia, Costa Rica.
The company will be the only major airline offering nonstop service from the U.S. to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and La Romana. The new schedule will add 16% more seats from DFW to Latin American and Central American cities in winter 2024 compared to American’s 2023 winter schedule, according to American communications specialist Caroline Barksdale. DFW and American Airlines are collaborating on $4.8 billion worth of projects at the airport that will span the next decade.
The airport is expected to add 24 new gates across three terminals, including the construction of a sixth terminal, Terminal F. (https://www.star-telegram.com/news/business/fort-worth/article288524648.html)
