•   The company will continue implementing its Strategic Plan, which guarantees its expansion and the consolidation of its key role in the connectivity between Europe and America.

•   The good business forecasts for this year, the expansion of the fleet, and the optimisation of operations at all levels, allow the company to face a long-term sustainable project independent of IAG.

Madrid, August 2 2024.- Following the announcement of the withdrawal of International Airlines Group (IAG) from the acquisition of Air Europa, the airline wants to reaffirm the strength and viability of its business project, which allows it to face a sustainable long-term future regardless of the decision of the multinational. The company also restates its firm commitment to the development, expansion, and quality of service to its customers.

Although Air Europa is aware of the instability of certain markets along with delays in the delivery of new aircraft, it will continue to implement its Strategic Plan 2024-2026. This plan sets the foundations for its growth and activity, and ensures the consolidation of the airline at the Madrid – Barajas hub, as well as its role in the connectivity between Europe and America.

This plan, which guarantees the airline’s dynamism, strength, and solvency, is based on the good economic results with which Air Europa closed the last financial year and on the positive trend of the first half of this year. In these six months, Air Europa’s operating turnover amounted to 1,364 million euros, 6.5% higher than in the same period last year and even better than the budget forecast.

The fleet unification process, based on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 737 models, has also been fundamental to the company’s strategy. Air Europa, which took delivery of a new Boeing 787-9 in June, will continue to add new units to its fleet in order to meet the planned growing process and also expects to take delivery of the first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft this year, making it the first Spanish airline to operate this aircraft.

Following an increase in frequencies to some Latin American destinations, such as Asunción, Medellín, Panama, and Caracas, as well as the inauguration of two new routes, to Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic and Venice, Air Europa will operate a total of 53 aircraft this summer, following the arrival this August of an additional Boeing 787-9.

The company faces a sustainable and encouraging future with full determination and confidence, and maintains its firm commitment to offer a quality service to its customers while remaining a benchmark in the aviation industry.
