Cuban state-owned carrier Cubana de Aviación announced that next May it will resume flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to a publication made by ANAC, Argentina’s aviation authority, on its Twitter account.

The president of Cubana de Aviación visited Argentina to announce that the company will resume commercial flights to the Argentine Republic next May.

At the meeting, held by the head of ANAC, Paola Tamburelli, it was confirmed that Buenos Aires would be the first South American destination to be resumed by the carrier, which is flying to Madrid with a Wet-Leased Airbus A340-300, with registration EC-MQM owned by Spanish ACMI Plus Ultra.

The Cuban airline is severely diminished, as it only has an ATR 42-500 with registration CU-T1240, and it is being used for domestic connections. All its jets, both widebody and narrow body, were decommissioned. Its last Ilyushin Il-96-300 was retired in August 2022.

“These flights will also multiply connectivity with other Caribbean countries with connections in Havana,” states the information released by ANAC. Despite Cabana’s website the carrier indicates that it has two active connections, Colombia and Mexico, the aircraft listed in the site (Airbus A319 and Antonov 158) were retired years ago.
