• The airline, which in 2023 will complete one of the best seasons in its history, will add new Boeing 787 Dreamliner units in the coming months, as well as the first Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts to its fleet.
• By next year, the airline will reactivate its route to Venice, which will operate two daily frequencies.
• Caracas, Asuncion, Medellin, and Panama will have one more weekly frequency.
Madrid, 28 December 2023.- Air Europa is facing the Winter season with a very positive forecast. The company, which already announced a reinforcement of 23,700 seats in December to respond to the high demand for the Christmas and New Year holidays, will increase its seat offer by 5% in these months due to the increase in sales expected throughout the first quarter of 2024.
Although only a few days have passed since the start of the winter season, the airline’s projections are in line with the increase in the activity that has made 2023 the best year in its history. This is supported, above all, by the strong performance of the market on long-haul routes between Europe and America, which are the differentiating element of Air Europa’s offer.
The growing seat offer will be possible thanks to a progressive increase in the size of the fleet, the opening of new routes, and the availability of additional frequencies connecting Madrid with other destinations in Latin America.
Air Europa expects to complete the arrival of four new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in the near future, in addition to the two received this December, which will allow it to have more than 20 Dreamliners by the end of the first quarter of the coming year. In addition, starting in May, will begin the arrival of the new Boeing 737 MAX, the most advanced in its category and with which the short and medium-haul routes will be reinforced. By the end of the year, the company will have a total of four units of this model and will operate around thirty 737s.
With the new year, the airline will again be present in North Africa. Thus, it will once again operate the route between Madrid and Tunis with a total of three weekly frequencies, as well as two frequencies a week to Marrakech. Looking ahead to the Summer, the Madrid-Venice route will be reactivated in June, with two daily frequencies to one of the cities with the highest tourist demand in Europe.
Latin America will continue to be the origin and destination of a large number of Air Europa passengers. In line with the increase in flights to this region, both Caracas and Asuncion will see their number of weekly frequencies rise up to five, while another frequency will be added to make a total of six between Madrid and Medellin (from this December) and between the Spanish capital and Panama (from June next year).
This significant increase in operations, both in Europe and America, is part of the objectives set out in the company’s Strategic Plan, which consolidates Air Europa’s key role in the Madrid-Barajas airport hub. From this position, the airline will continue to play a fundamental role in transatlantic connectivity.
