The emblematic Hotel Nacional de Cuba will host the IV Ibero-American Summit on Accessible Tourism, from December 5 to 19, as Havana has been selected as the host city for the event, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website Cubaminrex.
Cubaminrex emphasizes that this designation was made possible by the important commitment and work of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, together with the Skedio Travel Group and Ecotur in the design, supervision, evaluation and implementation of tourism products for all, in order to promote and guarantee Accessible and Inclusive Tourism.
The event will include a debate forum and will constitute a powerful loudspeaker to advance in the path of joining efforts and strategies in order to achieve a truly accessible, responsible and socially sustainable tourism.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, one of the objectives of the meeting is to work for Accessible Tourism for All, which implies the need to accumulate knowledge and forge solid partnerships between public officials, the private sector and organizations of people with disabilities.
Likewise, the text highlights that it will seek to raise awareness and sensitize the public and private tourism sector on the rights of people with disabilities or reduced mobility; and will seek to inform and train the sector and future professionals on the benefits of implementing universal accessibility in their tourist facilities or services.
