The North American portal TripAdvisor announced on Tuesday its Traveler’s Choice Beaches 2019, and Varadero was in second place, just behind Baia do Sancho beach, in Brazil.
The third place was obtained by Eagle Beach, on the Caribbean island of Aruba, and in fourth place is the beach of San Sebastián, in the Basque Country (Spain).
The list – made each year by the popular travel website – is based on the “quantity and quality” of the comments and ratings about beaches collected from TripAdvisor users during the last twelve months, which serves as a starting point to suggest which are the best beaches to visit in the current year, just started.
In relation to the list of last year, Varadero improved in valuation, as it went from the third place it occupied in 2018, behind Grace Bay (in Turks and Caicos Islands) and Baia Do Sancho, at that time, to the second place that occupies this year.
To this it is added that it is the second occasion, in little more than two months, that Varadero receives recognition from TripAdvisor.
Last December, the Cuban beach resort ranked third among the most visited beaches in the world in 2018. In that case, it was preceded only by Grace Bay and Baia do Sancho.
Among the highlights of Varadero, commentators on the web reported “its white and soft sands”, “perfect climate to visit at any time of year”, “natural paradise” and “warm and transparent waters”.
“This is a beautiful beach with a long stretch of fine white sands, and a lot of softness ideal for walking barefoot along it, warm and clean waters, shallow,” said another Internet user.
Varadero had almost 12 thousand reviews on TripAdvisor last year, of them more than 8 thousand rated it as “excellent” and more than 2 thousand as “very good”.
The Baia do Sancho beach, on the other hand, is located in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. Surrounded by vegetation and with very white sands, it is one of the most visited beaches in Brazil to practice diving and enjoy a great variety of marine fauna.
TripAdvisor has recognized 352 beaches in total this year, and has compiled a list of the 25 best beaches in the world, in addition to other specific classifications by continents and countries.
The first ten places Traveler’s Choice Beaches 2019 are the following:
