WHO Warns Of COVID-19 Deaths
Official data from the agency indicate that in recent days there have been about 2 million cases of COVID-19 in the world.
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Tuesday that in the last week 9,400 people died in the world due to COVID-19.
According to the agency, 90 percent less than in February 2022, when weekly deaths caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus exceeded 75,000, however, the current rate is too high for a preventable and treatable disease, the agency’s director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, told a news conference.
Adhanom urged governments, communities and individuals to maintain vigilance and emphasized the issue of vaccination gaps that “remain wide” and with it, the continued proliferation of new variants.
He also asked people to complete the vaccination schedule as a preventive measure.
