Minister blames the FMLN for some landslides. Bukele asked the Minister of Health to refer a file to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for a crime against health for the poor state of hospitals.

In a national network of more than an hour, President Nayib Bukele met yesterday with his crisis committee officials, asking them to do “everything they can to mobilize people to shelters, to rescue the people.”

“We are living two emergencies, one that takes almost three months and one that takes almost a week. We knew we were a vulnerable country. In this national chain we wanted to report to the population,” he said at the start of the meeting.

Later, he gave the floor, one by one to his officials.

The Minister of the Interior, Mario Durán, reported 27 deaths and 12,154 people housed, but 30,000 people affected. “I imagine there are people who don’t want to go to the hostels,” the representative told him.

“Yes, that’s right, you know first-hand the situation of the mayors,” replied the official leading the civil protection measures in the face of Tropical Storm Amanda.

Bukele noted that eviction may be mandatory under these conditions. He then turned to presidential operations and cabinet commissioner Carolina Recinos, who told her that they have transferred $2 million to the Civil Protection, Prevention and Disaster Mitigation Fund (Fopromid), where emergency budget reorientations are concentrated. Recinos did not detailed the origin of the funds.

Recinos detailed that they have used 269 hostels. “Hostels are like a house. It is urgent to house them but then there is the important thing, which is not that they become infected with Covid,” he told the health minister. Francisco Alabí, who replied that “the health staff is full” attending to the hostels.

Bukele suggested that among family groups “there must be extreme social estrangement.” “We could separate by family groups, to ensure that there is no… To solve the urgent, we will not neglect what was important,” his words were.

Commissioner Recinos replied that they are working with the municipal commissions to help them ensure estrangement. Bukele told them “do everything they can to mobilize people to the shelters, to rescue the people.”

Blame the FMLN

The ruler turned to the Minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodriguez, to tell him that they will need a damaged infrastructure report. “It has to be monumental, we need a quick inventory, a lot will be done after the rains pass,” he said.

Rodriguez recounted landslides in the country and blamed the FMLN government for some of them. He noted that they had deployed all crews to identify the damage.

He said they had landslides on the road to Puerto La Libertad because they did not do the protective work in the previous government. “This is because the works were not contemplated, they changed the pavement to the Los Chorros road, today is that we have 45 landslides,” he said.

“And what did the Minister of Public Works do for 10 years, wasn’t he the minister of transparency?” the President interrupted him. “I think transparency was a monument,” Rodriguez told him. “Horrible monument, I’m going to ask you to dismantle that monument, ” Bukele asked. Minutes after learning it was a park, he said, “I thought it’s the blue lady.”

“I think he’s going to have a titanic job after these rains, we have to make a full inventory,” was the President’s final indication to the minister. He claimed that these works are worth more than any road. He said there shouldn’t be “vulnerability inequality.”

In the end, she addressed Housing Minister Mishelle Sol, who told her that there are 365 homes destroyed and 1,200 homes in damage.

The representative then stated that the previous government did not care “never” to have hospitals in good condition, and showed photographs of the renovations. “That’s a public health crime, I’m going to talk to the attorney general,” the representative asked health minister. The president also announced that he will prioritize the economy after prioritizing health.( https://diario.elmundo.sv/gobierno-culpa-al-fmln-de-delito-contra-la-salud-y-de-derrumbes/
