COVID-19 Cases Worldwide Exceed 62 Million
The COVID-19 pandemic today reached 62.3 million cases, half a million of them recorded in the last 24 hours, but the daily contagion chart has been declining for two weeks, according to World Health Organization (WHO) figures.
Those killed in the pandemic amount to 1.45 million, 9,000 reported in the last day, although this indicator does not yet detect a clear downward trend and maintains the high figures of the previous week.
America, which totals 26.4 million cases and 723,000 deaths, maintains its stable graph in both indicators, while in Europe (18.6 million contagions and 415,000 deaths) the drop in positives is clear but the numbers of daily deaths are still high.
The United States, the country most affected by the pandemic, exceeded 13 million contagions, and second is India with 9.4 million positives.
Below are Brazil (6.2 million cases), Russia (2.2 million), France (2.1 million) and Spain (1.6 million).
Of these six countries, three of them (India, France and Spain) show a clearly declining graph, but Russia and Brazil are still on the rise and the US remains stable.
Patients recovered in the pandemic total 43.7 million, and of the 18 million active cases 0.6% (105,000) are in serious or critical condition. (EFE)
