Brothers Ricardo Alberto And Luis Enrique Martinelli Are Arrested in Guatemala With an Extradition Order to The United States
Brothers Ricardo Alberto and Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares were arrested on Monday in Guatemala with an extradition request to the United States, and were placed under the orders of the courts of the Central American nation, confirmed Jorge Aguilar Chinchilla, spokesman for the Guatemalan Police, in an interview with Radio Panama.
“Two persons are currently being made available to the courts; they are Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares and Ricardo Alberto Martinelli Linares. They were made available to the Tribunal here in Guatemala, as there is an arrest warrant for extradition purposes, as the order for conspiracy to commit money laundering reads,” Aguilar Chinchilla said in the interview with the Panamanian broadcaster.
According to the spokesman of the Guatemalan Police stated that the Martinelli Linares brothers were at La Aurora International Airport in order to board a private plane with probable destination to El Salvador.
“It is when these people are identified in the area, to determine if there is any kind of disposition; it was determined that they have this order of capture in place.” “There was information that would be leaving the country today and the arrest warrant is dated July 3 and today it has become effective,” said Aguilar Chinchilla.
The Guatemalan official reiterated that the petition was made by the United States and that the work was a result of intelligence and research actions.
