Airbnb and the Ministry of Tourism initiated an alliance to promote El Salvador as a world-class tourist destination

The Ministry of Tourism has initiated a collaboration with the digital platform Airbnb in order to promote and highlight El Salvador as a world-class tourist destination, due to its history, its culture, and its attractions so that national and international tourists can enjoy the country.

According to internal Airbnb data on tourism growth in El Salvador, domestic traveler reservations made through the platform increased by more than 280% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019, while international traveler bookings increased by around 290%.

«This alliance with Airbnb comes to strengthen all the work that we are doing in the government of President Nayib Bukele to make tourism one of the economic impulses for the development of El Salvador,» reiterated the Minister of Tourism of El Salvador, Morena Valdez.

For his part, the director of Airbnb Campaigns and Public Policies for the Caribbean and Central America, showed his pleasure in working together with the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador.

«El Salvador is an important destination for Airbnb, and we are delighted to continue working together with the Ministry of Tourism to develop a strong and democratized tourism industry through home-sharing, in which Salvadorans can benefit directly and at the same time support their communities,» highlighted Carlos Muñoz, director of Airbnb Campaigns and Public Policies for the Caribbean and Central America.
