Thursday July 8, 2021 in a press conference broadcasted on the National Television of Haiti (TNH), the Prime Minister ai Claude Joseph and Léon Charles, the Director General ai of the National Police of Haiti took stock of the evolution of the investigation following the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. During this conference the members of the arrested commandos were presented to the media as well as the weapons and the various objects seized.

Claude Joseph indicated that following the tragic death of President Jovenel Moïse, together with the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), it was decided to establish a permanence in order to speak to the population and provide them with reliable information from official sources and avoid rumors.

Prime Minister Joseph has given the parents of assassinated President Moïse a guarantee that they will find justice.

For his part, the Director General ai of the police, Léon Charles explained “[…] against the foreigners who entered the territory and cowardly assassinated our President, the PNH mobilized all its staff to arrest these criminals who came to sow mourning on the territory, all the specialized SWAT units etc… […] were mobilized from the beginning to give an response, it is what makes that today I can present to the population these attackers.

There were 28 assailants (26 Colombians and 2 Haitian-Americans), we arrested 15 of the 26 Colombians, killed 3 and 8 are on the run. The 2 Haitian Americans were arrested, we recovered the weapons, vehicles, their suitcases [passports, cell phones…]

The Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) will continue the investigation to bring them to justice.

We are looking for the [8] others who are on the run and we are asking for the support of the population, so that the police can recover all the murderers and hand them over to justice […]”
