The new routes will be launched in June, 2023.

Avianca has announced the launch of two new routes from San Salvador International Airport (SAL) to the United States this year. Starting in June, the carrier will fly from this Central American hub to Boston International Airport (BOS) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Two new international routes

Avianca, a company with domestic branches in Colombia, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Ecuador, wants to strengthen its non-stop connectivity offer to the United States. To do so, it has announced two new direct routes for 2023, offering three weekly flights and 2,000 seats per month to Boston and four weekly flights with 5,700 seats available per month to Orlando.

The operation of these new routes will begin in June 2023 (June 1 for Boston and June 11 for Orlando). Avianca will employ its Airbus A320 fleet to serve these cities. The planes have a capacity for 180 passengers in a three-class configuration, including premium, plus, and economy seats.

Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Director of Sales for North, Central America, and the Caribbean said,

“With these new destinations, we strengthen connectivity between the United States and El Salvador, which will benefit Salvadorans who live here and are looking to spend their vacations abroad, as well as compatriots living in Boston or Orlando, who will now be able to travel non-stop to visit their families. It is also a great opportunity to attract more tourists to explore the wonders that El Salvador has to offer.”

Avianca will offer the route to Boston on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It will depart from San Salvador at 09:00, landing in Boston at 16:05. The return leg will depart at 17:25, arriving in the Central American country at 20:50. Meanwhile, the service to Orlando will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It will depart from San Salvador at 09:25, landing in Florida at 14:25. The return flight will depart at 15:50, arriving at 16:40.

Avianca’s services to the United States

Avianca currently operates 119 weekly flights to the United States. It serves Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Washington (IAD), New York (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX), Orlando (MCO), Miami (MIA), and San Juan (SJU) from eight cities in Latin America (four Colombian cities, and one from Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Costa Rica, respectively).

The most crucial route Avianca offers is Bogota-Miami, with 28 weekly flights (four per day). From Central America, the most critical route is between San José and Washington, with three weekly flights. The other Central American services to the US depart from Guatemala to Los Angeles, New York, and Washington (two per week each) and San Salvador to Los Angeles, New York, and Dallas (one flight per week each).

More routes across Central America

Avianca is also actively promoting tourism in the Central American region and will add 12 additional flights a week to fly between Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica starting June 13.

Additionally, since March, the airline has activated its “Central America is for living” campaign, which aims to boost tourism in Central America, offering competitive fares from $79 each way. (https://simpleflying.com/avianca-announces-new-routes-boston-orlando/)
